Film Description

Magnetism is an invisible and influential force. Magnetic fields distort a metallic liquid into spectacular shapes that visualise magnetism in three dimensions.

Lesson Inspiration

Explore the attractive and repulsive ability of ferrofluids using electromagnets. The strength and direction of the magnetic field is varied to manipulate the ferrofluid, allowing the field to be visualised in three dimensions.

Useful when:

This film makes a nice introduction to Unit 3 of senior Physics: Gravity and electromagnetism and it visualises magnetic fields.
